A Little More About Me

  • I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I am a proud Gryffindor, and communicate with my fellow fans regularly. The Marauders are my FAVOURITE!
  • I am a shaman following a solitary Pictish path.
  • I am an intensely creative person, whether it's through my photography, sewing, beading, cross stitch, cooking or any other form it takes. Creativity is a form of spirituality for me.
  • I love music. Abba is my favourite band, but I listen to anything from hard rock to showtunes, classical to celtic.
  • I suffer from anxiety and other mental disorders that sometimes come out in my journaling. I am in treatment for them, I am on medications and herbal therepys, and I deal with them. They don't define who I am, but they're always there and always will be there. I speak out about them because mental issues have such a stigma, and I want to show the world that I'm not ashamed of who I am.
  • I travel a good deal, both for my mental well-being and for my photography. I have been to the UK several times, all over the US and to Japan. I plan to travel regularly and have hopes to visit many more countries in the next few years.
  • I am a recovering cosplayer. I cosplayed for five years and left it fully and completely 3 years ago. Leaving it all behind is something I never regret.
  • I have a past. For better or worse, it's there. If you knew me once upon a time, please never assume I'm the same person I once was. I've grown and changed, and will continue to do so. As is the lovely thing about having a past, it's thankfully left there, behind me, but the lessons I've learned from it will be with me for life.
  • I am in love with the world. My interests tend to change on a whim. I fall in and out of love things, places, styles, people and hobbies like the ebb and flow of the tide, but the constants always remain, never victims of my ever changing desires; my family, my pets, and my love of love. I am a pessimistic optimist. I know, one would seem to cancel out the other, but I suppose it means that I'm always hopeful that people will put their best foot forward, and eternally disappointed when they don't. I am an idealist at heart, and I hope I never loose that quality.
Requests and Rules for being added to my journal

Please read before you add me, or hope to be added back.

  • Drama - I am 33. If you bring high school level drama into my life, I will leave you to it. There are far more important things to be concerned about than school yard politics. Day to day drama is an unfortunate part of everyone's life (i.e., troubles with coworkers, family issues, freak-outs, etc.) Why would I complicate my life further with unnecessary additional junk?
  • Stalkers - C'mon, really? If you're stalking me, you seriously need to get a life. I'm boring and completely unworthy of your time and energy. Please, go get a hobby.
  • Censorship - I wouldn't ask you to censor yourself in your journal, so please don't ask me to censor myself. However, we all have the right to choose what we read. I am no different. If it is your opinion that the only way of thinking that is correct includes the following: Childfree, racism, sexism, anti-gay, anti-plus sized, anti-any religion or spiritual path, cruelty to anyone, needless drama or ignorant statements, then I likely will not friend you back. I'm on LJ to make friends and to have fun. It's one thing to have things that you believe in. I'm not out to change that about you, but please don't try to change me either. Life isn't about hate, it's about love.
  • Guilt trips - I am responsible for what I say and do. I try my best not to hurt feelings, but I won't take responsibility for anyone's reaction to me. What I say and do is my responsibility, what you say and do is yours. Simple first grade stuff, yeah?
  • Soliciting - As it is apparently required now to place no solicitation signs on one's journal, unwanted spam does end up with a nasty comment from me. If you are not on my friends' list, do not come here simply to advertise whatever it is you think I want to hear about.
  • Age - Please, no one under the age of 18. It's not that I say anything dirty, but I wouldn't want my 12 year old reading the journal of some random 33 year old woman. So please don't put me in that position.
